A Little Something Ordinary
Dear Meg,
I feel like our first two posts were so large in impact that anything following them might just sound silly. But being silly is one of the best parts of our friendship! So, oh well if this letter isn't as deep as the ocean, as high as the sky. I'm just going to ramble silly nothings at you because, frankly, I know you actually care. (I'm so lucky.)
Tonight I am craving chocolate and sparkling cider, but I have three sleeping kids and a husband at the office until late so, thankfully, I will not be able to go to the store and binge on junky goodness. Oh, but I want to.
Remember One Sweet Whirled? Is that where our obsession with coffee flavors originated? And of course, Cafe Rio salads, Chili's desserts, pizza, watermelon, and ??Strawberries with mint leaves?? Just kidding.
It's funny to think about how delightful food and a good chick flick used to be to me. Not as much anymore. I mean, don't get me wrong. Food is LIFE! But I don't really sit and eat comfort food and watch chick flicks like we used to do. I think you outgrew that phase a little earlier than I did, but it's mostly gone for me too. Now, I like to binge watch TV and eat semi-healthy snacks and drink tea. I guess it's still a binge, but it doesn't add to the size of my thighs.
So, how are things settling in since the big news? Does your life feel different yet?
Ryan's and my life is changing a lot too. We are making some bold choices, which are hard, but they also make me excited. I always like to do things in a big way when I can; it's my version of being brave. I may still shy away from boogie boarding in the ocean, but I can make tough decisions when it's time.
The kids are doing well. Ryan and I were talking today about how we spoil them. "Maybe we should yell at them," we reasoned this morning. "Would they be better behaved if we were meaner parents?" Then we laughed because our parents probably had the same conversation about physical punishment. "Would our kids be more obedient if we spanked them more instead of just lecturing them all the time?" I guess kids are just kids and parents are always baffled by the lack of discipline they are able to maintain. Speaking of discipline, how's the potty training going? It's been a few weeks since Zoey had a major accident. WAHOO! (Of course now that I say that, she'll have one tomorrow. haha)
I hope you're doing awesome! I can't wait to hear from you.
Love,
Mal
